Austin Charm
I love Austin. We’ve only been here 2 months so far, (3 maybe? It’s all such a blur) but pretty much love everything about being here. One small part of it’s charm is some of the fun business signs around town.
Here are just a few for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy some local Austin creativity.
I love Austin.
The Heart of the Home
Isn’t the kitchen known as the heart of the home? Where everyone gathers together. Where the activity of the house can be measured by the comings and goings of little feet or the volume of intersecting conversations. Where late night conversations begin over a glass of wine in the stillness of a quiet house. Maybe I’m just imagining that’s a well-known saying, but it seems to be true in our home.
Jo has been trying to get our home more organized after being here for just over two months now. And understandably, much of that effort has been focused on our kitchen. Well after much work and organizing (code for lots of work), our kitchen has finally come together as that cohesive hub of activity it was meant to be. Here are some pics of what it looks like now:
Organized with evidence of our handiwork still on the counter.
Setting up some relaxing ambiance behind the sink.
Our nook makes me think of a quiet little bistro. It’s the small table and the well placed pictures on the wall. (Good thinking Jo!)
If you’re gonna organize, might as well go all the way!
Seriously, all the way!
And of course, mission complete. A cause for celebration, a mango kicker!
I don’t know if this is already a cocktail somewhere but we sort of made it up on the fly. Here’s the recipe. Give it a try!
The Mango Kicker
- 1 shot (1 oz-ish…) good rum
- 2 oz mango juice
- splash of pomegranate juice
- mix all three in a short glass filled 2/3 with crushed ice, enjoy!
Thanks lovey!
