One last story for you
This one is so funny. You’ll definitely be able to tell who the real writer is with Natalie’s Josie R. as Batgirl story:
Once upon a time, there was a sexy young girl named Josie. All of the guys were beating at her door, begging for her attention; if nothing else, they wanted pieces of her clothing, or even a dirty kleenix that she had used. Oh, to have just a momento of Josie’s existence. It was every man’s dream. But alas, Josie was not interested in just anyone. Her heart was given to one special man, one dreamy Superhero. Her heart had long ago been given to Dean Cain as Superman. True, his television show had recently become lame and plotless, but she didn’t care. He was still the most gorgeous Superhero she had ever met. But this love was not to be returned……
Tearfully, Josie watched the episode of “Lois and Clark” in which Dean Cain as Superman finally married Lois on a tropical island. Now what did life hold for her? How would she ever find a male specimen as magnificent as her Superhero? Suddenly, her door crashed in!!!! There stood a man in black, looking mysterious and sexy in his plastic, form-fitting body costume.
“Who are you?” whispered an astonished Josie.
“I am Batman,” stated the plastic-wearing stranger. ”The new Batman, to be more accurate. During the day, I live the life of Dr. Doug Ross in the ER. At night, I save the world from e-vil, as in the fru-its of the de-vil.”
“Wow, that’s neat!” responded our wide-eyed heroine.
“I love you, Josie. During my free time, I would like to spend quality time with you, if you’ll agree to be my girl. I’ve had some trouble maintaining relationships in the past, but things are different now. I’ve been watching you for some time with my night vision. You’re the one for me.”
“But I’ve been burned by a Superhero before,” cried Josie. ”How do I know you won’t hurt me, like Dean Cain as Superman did.”
“Hmmm. Good question.” Dr. Doug Ross as Batman rubbed his chin thoughtfully. ”Hey, I’ve got it! Join my team. Become on of us. Become a Superhero! Then we can work together; I’ll tell you all the Superhero secrets and that bond will help you to trust me.”
“You must truly love me to make that offer. I accept, but what Superhero will I become? Electrawoman?”
“No, that role has been played for years by the incomparable Deidre Hall of ‘Days of Our Lives’ fame. You will become Josie R. as Batgirl, of course. The first Superhero secret you should know is that we are led by a little blue dwarf. He appears at will and teaches people valuable moral lessons, even if that lesson must be taught with violence and death. There is a dark side to being a Superhero, as you will learn. Generally we strive to minimize the violence and death as much as possible. Rescuing people is much more gratifying. But what’s really important here is our Superhero love. Some day you will learn to love me as you loved Dean Cain as Superman.”
“Yes, Dr. Doug Ross as Batman. Yes, I believe I will.”
The Superhero lovers lived happily ever after, rescuing innocent victims, learning from the little blue dwarf the necessity of violence and death to teach valuable moral lessons, and taking vacations to Portugal at every opportunity. (Hey, I just tell it as it happened.) Because of Dr. Doug Ross as Batman’s love and devotion, Dean Cain as Superman was forever removed from Josie R. as Batgirl’s mind. (Except when they all met up at the Superhero conferences, but that’s another story.)
THE END
The family who writes together….
… at the very least laughs together.
One of the things that I think is cool about my family is we are all pretty creative/artistic people. We have woodworkers, writers, crafters, film editors, painters, etc. Everybody loves creating. Whether it’s good handmade soap or a good story. One of the things that is funny about my family is that we all have the same sense of humor – some strange mix between dry and totally slapstick.
I’m sure the English Major nerds (I mean, siblings) were the ones that started this, but we’ve also done some writing only for the reason of totally cracking each other up. (But if noone gets it when you send it to them then the time you spent at the computer softly chuckling to yourself makes it worth it anyway.) Natalie and I used to do this all of the time (back when we had a lot more time). There’s a story about me being batgirl (by Natalie) and one about a mean leprechan (by me). It’s kind of like our own Creative Writing Class. (Kind of.)
A few months back I had mentioned how Jamie and I had a “Twin Moment”, but it was really nothing and didn’t think anything about it. My brother-in-law started asking me about it, then hounding me, then begging me to hear the story. It was such a stupid little moment, but I didn’t want to disappoint. Perfect time for one of our stories.
For your reading pleasure I give you, Twin Moment Story!
Finally the clothes were put away and the kitchen was straightened up. I scooped some pureed green beans into Drew’s mouth and plopped myself down in the kitchen chair brushing my wispy hair away from my eyes. It was one of those days where being a Stay at Home Mom was tough… but still somehow found a way to look like perfection. It’s just so easy for me.
There was so much to do: more laundry, cleaning up toys, creating handmade “Mrs Darcy” block decor to sell for only $32.00, pick up Collin from school, then dinner and so on and so forth.
That’s when I heard it. Call Jamie.
I can’t call Jamie. I’m way too busy! I have WAY too much to make sure I get done today. We can never really connect anyway. Between all the kids, we talk for 2 minutes and then have to go anyway.
Call her! Do it!
Back off, Okay! I’ll freaking call!
I got up off of my chair, walked to my purse and pulled out my cell phone. It was cold to the touch. So cold. I flipped open the top and called her cell.
“HELLO!?” her screechy Grandma Jaeger-like voice called out. “I knew you would call me right back.”
“Whatever are you talking about? I have no reference to the words in which you are speaking.”
“I just called you.” she screeched.
“No, I just called you.” The words flowed out of my mouth like honey. Smooth and sweet.
I had to hold the phone away from my ear when she said, “Yeah, and then you called me back.”
“WHAT? JUST NOW?” I was flabbergasted. And felt a chill.
“Yes. Two seconds ago.” she stated, but with a tinge of hatred in her voice.
I stood, staring out the window at the wintry landscape of our backyard. No. It couldn’t be. How did I know to respond to her phone call without even hearing the phone ring? How is it possible?
The phone dropped out of my hand and landed with a crash onto the floor. The gears and plastic scattered across the floor. The water that was on the stove starting boiling over and the teapot started whisteling.
“Oh. My. God. Jamie, we just had a twin moment.”
“That’s weird.”
“That IS Weird.”
Then, we had a conversation.
Obvious loop-holes in the story, like, you know, talking AFTER the phone crashed into bits but it just needs to be funny… not actually make sense.
Or, I could argue that it was twin telepathy.
There is a follow-up story from Matt about his reaction to reading this story. LOL I’m not even kidding. It’s hilarious. I’ll ask him if he’s willing to have it posted, but I don’t know… it might embarrass him or something. Not me! I display the most embarrassing of moments!
So what’s been going on?
Things have been incredibly boring around here these days. So you’re welcome for the lack of posts describing our days. It would be a lot of sentences like these:
- I’m so tired these days.
- I’m sorry for not writing, I’m just so tired.
- I forgot how tired pregnancy makes me.
- Do you know how I’m feeling today? Stinking tired.
Or I’d give you definitions:
tired –adjective
| 1. | exhausted, as by exertion; fatigued or sleepy: a tired runner. |
| 2. | weary or bored (usually fol. by of): tired of the same food every day. |
| 3. | hackneyed; stale, as a joke, phrase, or sermon. |
| 4. | Informal. impatient or disgusted: You make me tired. |
Or post tired songs:
Or post tired pictures:
I’m so glad I didn’t do that to you. The good news is I am definitely getting my energy back, so the risk of coming face to face with such annoying posts are slimming down. Hooray for you!
But, anyway, on a totally different topic – I did find these awesome things on Etsy recently. They’re so cute and just feel, I don’t know…. right.

Space Magnets
Tuesday is when we do Art projects (along with other subjects, of course) and we finished up our Space Magnets today! They turned out so cool! The coolest part? We finished them with glow-in-the-dark sealer. Can’t wait to try them out tomorrow!
He made all of the planets, some comets, a wormhole and, of course, The Death Star. He had fun making them, but he said the part that was most fun about it is I was asking him Space Questions while we worked. So cute. I mean, cool. Very, very cool.
My friend Tana got me into reading passive-aggressive notes.com and the one they had today totally made me laugh:
That is just hilarious! Haven’t we all felt that at one point or another “Seriously… Sugar Ray?”
Baby Bear is Walking
How time flies. This was Baby Bear a year ago at about 2 1/2 months old. Just a little guy!
Today, Baby Bear is learning and growing and walking more and more every day. He’s really taking a lot of steps lately. I think in 2 weeks time he’ll have moved on from crawling altogether and be walking constantly.
See him action (kind of) here:

Christmas Vacation, Part V
The Finale of our Christmas Vacation series. I call this one Jo:Anthropologie :: Jr:LEGO store
We both had that moment of not being able to wait to get in the store… of forgetting about everything and everyone else and heading for the heavenly glow of the wonderfulness inside.
We were only there for a short amount of time, considering the hype around actually getting to go, but it was all worth it.
As you can see we also were able to meet up with friends, Tim and Lori and their family. They were in from Iowa and we were in from Texas at the same time. How awesome is that?! dt hadn’t seen them in over 10 years and they are dear friends of his. Although, I’m sure he wouldn’t say it like that. He’d say, “I love Tim and Lori!” and what’s not to love? They are de-lightful! To be said like this guy:
Thanks for meeting up with us, guys!
